Why Twin 12″ Over a Single Larger Driver?
It’s a question we get regularly — why run two 12-inch subwoofers instead of a single 15″ or 18″? The answer lies in the physics of how bass works in a car environment.
Two 12″ = More Cone Area Than One 15″
Two 12″ drivers have a combined cone area that exceeds that of a single 15″. More cone area moving air means more output — but spread across two controlled drivers rather than one large one, resulting in tighter, more precise bass response.
Each Driver Works Less Hard for the Same Output
When two drivers share the workload, each individual cone moves less to produce the same SPL. Less excursion per driver means less distortion, better heat management and longer driver life — even when pushed hard.
