Ferrari 458 Cluster Conversion and Audio Upgrade

This jaw dropping high performance Ferrari came in for a tricky cluster conversion which saved the owner many thousands of pounds. The Audioconcepts team added a XFIRE 1204 D Amplifier to power the tweeters and mids.

The Ferrari 458 has no monitor in the car as the radio is in the cluster, therefore no room left. The rear camera can only be added at the Ferrari factory as the cluster does not support video. The only solution is to change the Ferrari clocks at a huge cost of £8k plus vat, thats quite an expensive upgrade.
The B&B Audioconcepts team added a custom circuit board which would fool the cluster to overlay the camera image. Very clever and at a fraction of the cost.

Audison Prima APBX 8 AS

A super efficient 8″ active subwoofer, the APBX 8 AS delivers incredible bass from a compact enclosure. Rewriting the rules on impedance matching and power supply demand this musical sub bass offering is capable of astonishing performance from relatively low current draw. The enclosure can be mounted face up or face down depending on the kind of bass required and with the included bass level control you can have as much bass as you like at any time.

The Prima APBX 8 AS2 active subwoofer, with 8-inch driver, features a dedicated high performance amplification module which enhances all the passive box technologies, such as the 2S² (2 Sides / 2 Sounds) design, the Plug & Play terminal block and ultra-compact size.

The amplification module, with power outputs of 250W RMS is developed with he-li technology (high efficiency / low impedance), which thanks to the absence of the DC-DC voltage booster reaches the impressive 90% efficiency level, very close to the theoretical limit of the D-Class. New input stage DBT (Dynamic Bass Tracking) technology allows 100% use of the he-li (High Efficiency Low Impedance) amplifier power and to enjoy a tense and dynamic bass even at very high listening volumes.
Eliminating the voltage booster was made possible thanks to the development of the new dual coil drivers, which inherit all the technological background of the Prima subwoofers, but differ for the ultra low impedance.
This feature ensures a perfect synergy with the he-li (High Efficiency Low Impedance) technology, maximising the combination of amplifier, speakers and sealed box, to obtain low, powerful and crisp frequencies.

The controls section is complete and provides an optimal regulation of the low frequency emission in the car cabin. The Butterworth low pass filter at 12dB/Oct. with variable cut-off frequency (50-200 Hz) can be bypassed, when used with an AP bit processor with pre-out output dedicated to the sub. The adjustable bass-boost control (0 ÷ 6 dB) at 45 Hz allows the user to emphasise the response in the lower side of the spectrum.

The high-level speaker-in input on multi-pole connector eases the integration with OEM audio systems while the low-level input on RCA is dedicated to the connection with after market sources. The subwoofer automatic turn on/off function ART (Automatic Remote Turn-On) can be configured to be controlled by the source’s remote signal, by the voltage variation on the high-level input or by the audio signal on both inputs. Phase control (0 – 180 °) completes the equipment.

Focal KX2 Speakers

The ES 165 KX2 component kit is composed of two 6½” (165 mm) woofers with Kevlar^® cones providing an extremely rich and punchy sound. The centre of the cone is equipped with a phase plug for improved sound dispersion around the vehicle.

The two ‘M’-shaped aramid-fibre TKMX inverted dome tweeters are equipped with bi-amplified crossovers. This enables perfect control over the high end for providing very smooth treble with perfect definition.

Thanks to its excellent power handling, this kit is the reference product of the K2 Power range. It even won over the hearts of the experts when it was officially revealed at the CES in Las Vegas, and received the CES Innovation 2016 award.

The kit is supplied with aluminium and mesh grilles.
